GREEN CERTIFIED FORESTERS

Our Firewood is sourced from green certified suppliers in the "Master Logger Program.”  It is based on a common vision for the rural communities of the Northeast — 12 principles to guide loggers in their work, and 8 goals:

  • Document harvest planning
  • Protect water quality
  • Maintain soil productivity
  • Sustain forest ecosystems
  • Manage forest aesthetics
  • Ensure workplace safety
  • Demonstrate continuous improvement
  • Ensure business viability

Field Verifiers visit harvest sites to decide whether potential Master Logging Companies meet the standards that are required for certification. Their results are given to an independent, national board that makes the final decision on whether a company will be certified.

To maintain Master Logger Certification, each company must be recertified every 2 years. There are also random audits between recertification, a continuous improvement process for upgrading skills within the company, and an attitude of partnership with other forest professionals and their associations.
